Drivers from Beavercreek, Fairborn, Xenia, Bellbrook, Huber Heights, Wright-Patterson AFB, and the east side of Dayton usually use the Beavercreek shop. Does Ohio require a car inspection?

Not in the Dayton area. Ohio's E-Check emissions test covers only seven northeast Ohio counties: Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit. Cars registered in Montgomery, Greene, and Warren counties need no emissions test, and Ohio has no yearly safety inspection for personal cars.

Two cases do need an inspection:

Are independent shops better than dealerships?

It depends on the job: an independent shop handles maintenance and repairs after the warranty, and the dealer handles warranty repairs and safety recalls. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, maintenance done at an independent shop does not void your factory warranty, as long as it follows the schedule and you keep the records.
