Turbo and all-wheel-drive Acuras

RDX turbo. The 2007 to 2012 RDX and the 2019 and later RDX use turbocharged four-cylinders. Turbos depend on clean oil, so on-time oil changes with the right synthetic matter more here than on most engines. Short trips and cold Ohio mornings shorten the oil life the Maintenance Minder shows.

SH-AWD. Super Handling All-Wheel Drive sends power between the rear wheels through a rear drive unit with its own fluid. Code 6 on the Maintenance Minder is the reminder. A groan or shudder in tight turns can mean that fluid is overdue.

V6 timing belts. The MDX, TL, TLX V6, and 2013 to 2018 RDX use a V6 with a timing belt, usually due with code 4 around 100,000 miles, along with the water pump.

Brakes and tires. Heavier AWD models wear brakes and tires quickly. Keeping tire wear even matters on AWD, so rotations (code 1) and alignment are part of the plan. Murphy's is a Tire Rack recommended installer.

Do I need an Acura dealer, or can an independent shop do the work?
