Who Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley serves
Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley is a nonprofit that helps people in the Dayton region with disabilities and other disadvantages find work, build skills, and live more independently. Donated goods and vehicles help pay for that work.
How a charity auto auction helps
When someone donates a car, truck, or van to the auction, the vehicle is sold and the proceeds support the charity's programs. A vehicle that no longer fits its owner's needs becomes funding for local services, and the buyer gets an affordable vehicle.
Thinking about donating a vehicle?
A few things make a donation go smoothly:
- Find the title. The charity will need it signed over.
- Remove your belongings, including garage door openers, toll tags, and anything in the glove box.
- Remove your plates if your state requires it, and cancel the insurance after the transfer.
- Keep the paperwork. Ask the charity for a receipt, and talk to a tax professional about whether a deduction applies.
- Be honest about condition. Charities accept many vehicles that don't run, but they need to know.
