That's right, Dave, Jan & Brian are back with Auto Talk
Don't miss the fastest hour in radio. Dave, Jan, and Brian Murphy are back with Auto Talk on WHIO, live every Saturday at noon on AM 1290 and FM 95.7.
What Auto Talk is
Auto Talk is WHIO's longest-running show. For decades it has helped Miami Valley drivers sort out car trouble, decide which repairs are worth doing, and keep their vehicles safe. The format is simple: listeners call in during the broadcast, describe what their car or truck is doing, and get a straight answer on the air.
Who's on the show
- Dave Murphy started as a technician at the Beavercreek shop in 1974, bought it in 1994, and is ASE Master Certified.
- Jan Murphy has run the family business alongside Dave for 30 years.
- Brian Murphy is the next generation of the family business.
Between them, they bring more than 50 years of hands-on experience from Murphy's Autocare's shops in Beavercreek and Centerville.
What you'll hear on Saturdays
The topics follow what listeners ask about, and in Ohio that usually means:
- Getting a car ready for winter, and what road salt does to it
- Brakes, and how to tell when worn brakes become a safety problem
- What a check engine light or other warning light is telling you
- Tires, potholes, and alignment
- Light-duty diesel trucks, including Duramax, Powerstroke, Cummins, and EcoDiesel
- Hybrids, and when a repair isn't worth the money
How to listen
Tune in to WHIO AM 1290 or FM 95.7 at noon on Saturdays. Missed a show? Episodes are also available as a podcast on Spotify and other major platforms. Search for Auto Talk. More about the show is on the Auto Talk page.
If a question from the show turns into a repair, the same family answers it in the shop. Every vehicle gets a digital inspection with photos and video, and nothing is repaired until you approve it.
