BG MOA Additive Test 4
The test engine is a GM 5.7-liter V8, better known as the 350 Chevy small-block. It has been treated with BG MOA, a motor oil additive we recommend at every oil change service for its added lubrication and engine protection. BG Products are available at Murphy's Autocare for your automotive and car repair needs.
What BG MOA is
BG MOA is an oil supplement made by BG Products. It goes into the crankcase with fresh oil at an oil change. BG describes it as helping keep the inside of the engine clean, reducing friction and wear on moving parts, and helping the oil resist breaking down between changes.
Motor oil already contains detergents and anti-wear additives. A supplement adds to that package. It is most useful on engines that work hard:
- Higher-mileage engines that are starting to form deposits
- Vehicles driven on many short trips, where the oil never fully warms up
- Trucks that tow or haul
- Engines with a history of sludge or missed oil changes
What an additive can't do
An additive is not a repair. It will not fix a worn bearing, stop an engine that burns oil through its piston rings, or replace an overdue oil change. Oil changes at Murphy's Autocare
We follow the interval in your owner's manual or your vehicle's oil life monitor, and we use the oil grade the manufacturer specifies. Every visit includes a digital vehicle inspection with photos and video sent to your phone or email, so you can see the condition of your vehicle before deciding on any extra service. BG MOA is an optional add-on, and you decide whether to use it.
