Our ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certified Technicians are skilled on all levels, from basic automotive maintenance such as an oil change to more complex car repair issues like brake repair and transmission service, including hybrid and electrical vehicles.

Dave & Jan Murphy

Tom’s Sohio becomes Murphy’s Autocare, Inc.

After 10 years as a representative of a major automotive aftermarket parts manufacturer and training technicians across several states, Dave Murphy found himself with the opportunity to purchase a family-owned repair business called Tom’s Sohio.

In the fall of 1994, Tom and Lois Rice retired and Tom’s Sohio became Murphy’s Autocare, Inc.


Ten years saw steady growth.

Starting with two employees and three service bays, expanded into six employees and four services bays. By July 2004 we had grown to eight service bays. The expansion included the addition of a beautiful and friendly customer reception area and the addition of vehicle alignment services.

As we crossed the ten year benchmark, Murphy’s Autocare had established itself as a professional automotive service provider committed to quality and focused on total customer satisfaction.


Committed to Quality for 25 years

After 25 years of automotive service Murphy’s Autocare remains family-owned and operated. Our staff continues to grow as well as our commitment to quality & customer total satisfaction. Murphy’s Autocare continues to make improvements by implementing the latest auto service technologies. Murphy’s Autocare was the first Dayton auto service provider to offer digital vehicle inspections.

In 2013, Murphy’s Autocare was recognized as one of the top 12 Auto shops in North America By ATI.


Continued Growth

Murphy’s Autocare continues to make improvements not only in the latest auto service technologies but also through regional growth. During the course of a global pandemic and economic shutdown, Murphy’s Autocare is proud to expand our regional service location to Centerville Ohio.

In 2019 & 2020, Murphy’s Autocare was recognized as one of the top Auto shops in North America By ATI.

Dave Murphy


With over 35 years experience in automotive and repair industries. Dave currently maintains his ASE Master Certification and is a graduate of the Automotive Management Institute, a founding member of Automotive Training Institute’s Master Mind 20 group and a current board member of SOGGDA. He is a 10 year member of the Automotive Curriculum Advisory board at Sinclair Community College.

Jan Murphy


As the company CFO & HR director, Jan is a graduate of AMI, which is
the Automotive Management Institute, former president and board member of SOGGDA. Jan and Dave are founding members of the automotive industry group “Master Mind” (An Automotive Business Group Devoted To Improving The Automotive Customer Experience).

Brian Murphy

Service Manager

As graduate of the Automotive Training Institute (ATI) and an AMI graduate joined the Murphy’s team in May of 2004 while attending Sinclair community college and working as an auto tech apprentice. He attained his Master Auto Tech certificate in 2010 and in 2014 accepted the position of Service Manager.

Ryan Boswell

Service Manager

Has been managing the Murphy's Autocare Service Team for nearly 10 years. Ryan is a 20 year automotive service professional, a graduate of the Automotive Training Institute (ATI) and is a certified Automotive Service Consultant.
