Have a question about bringing your car or truck into Murphy's Autocare? You're not alone. Below are the questions we hear most often at our Beavercreek and Centerville shops — answered straight, no runaround.
Getting Started
Do I need an appointment?
We strongly recommend scheduling ahead of time. Walk-ins are always welcome, but an appointment helps us get your vehicle in faster and ensures the right technician and parts are ready when you arrive. Call our Beavercreek shop at 937-426-2886 or our Centerville shop at 937-433-0140, or schedule online through our contact page.
What are your hours?
Both Murphy's Autocare locations are open Monday through Friday, 7:30am–5:00pm. We are closed on weekends. If you need to drop off before we open, give us a call and we'll work with you on a plan.
Where are you located?
We have two convenient locations serving the Dayton metro area:
- Beavercreek: 3815 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45434 — easy access from Route 35 and just 10 minutes from Wright-Patterson AFB
- Centerville: 100 N Main St, Centerville, OH 45459 — right off Far Hills Ave in the heart of Centerville
Both shops serve customers throughout Dayton, Kettering, Fairborn, Xenia, Springboro, Miamisburg, and the entire Miami Valley.
Do you offer a shuttle service?
Yes — we offer a complimentary shuttle to get you home or to work while your vehicle is being serviced. We know your day doesn't stop just because your car is in the shop. Ask about shuttle availability when you schedule your appointment.
Services
What vehicles do you work on?
Murphy's Autocare services all makes and models — domestic and foreign, cars, trucks, SUVs, minivans, and light-duty fleet vehicles. Whether you drive a Ford F-150, a Honda Accord, a Chevy Equinox, or a Toyota Camry, our ASE Certified technicians have you covered. See our full list of auto repair and tire services.
Do you sell tires?
Absolutely. Murphy's Autocare is Dayton's #1 tire center, carrying all major brands and offering installation, balancing, rotation, and alignment. We are a Tire Rack recommended installer, which means you can order tires through Tire Rack and have them shipped directly to us for installation. Ask our team to help you find the right tire for your vehicle, budget, and driving habits.
Do you work on hybrid or electric vehicles?
Yes. Our ASE Master Certified technicians are trained in hybrid drivetrain systems and high-voltage battery service. If you drive a Toyota Prius, Ford Escape Hybrid, Honda Insight, or similar hybrid vehicle in the Dayton area, you can trust Murphy's to handle it properly — without the dealer markup.
Do you work on diesel trucks?
Yes. Murphy's Autocare services light-duty diesel trucks, SUVs, and commercial vans at both our Beavercreek and Centerville locations. We work on 3.0L Duramax (Mini Max), 6.6L Duramax, 6.7L Powerstroke, 6.7L Cummins, and EcoDiesel platforms. Diesel services include oil changes, fuel filter replacement, turbo diagnostics, injector replacement, EGR system repair, DEF system service, and more. Learn more about our diesel services.
How much does a diesel oil change cost?
Diesel oil changes cost more than gas engine oil changes because diesel engines hold significantly more oil (typically 10-15 quarts compared to 5-6 for a gas engine) and require a higher-specification oil product. The exact cost depends on your engine and the oil specification it requires. Call for a quote — Beavercreek: 937-426-2886 | Centerville: 937-433-0140.
Can you service DEF systems?
Yes. DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) systems are required on all modern diesel trucks for emissions compliance. Murphy's diagnoses and repairs DEF system issues including the DEF injector, heater, level sensor, and quality sensor. Ignoring DEF warnings can result in your truck going into reduced power mode or refusing to restart. If your diesel has a DEF-related warning light, bring it in for diagnosis — the repair is almost always simpler and cheaper when addressed early.
What is a digital vehicle inspection?
When your car comes in, we perform a comprehensive inspection and document what we find with photos and video sent directly to your phone or email. You see exactly what our technicians see — worn brake pads, a leaking gasket, a tire with uneven wear — before we touch anything. You approve the work before we start. No surprises, no pressure. It's one of the reasons Dayton drivers keep coming back. Learn more about our brake services and other inspection-driven repairs.
Pricing & Payment
How much does an oil change cost?
Oil change pricing varies depending on your vehicle's engine, the type of oil required (conventional, synthetic blend, or full synthetic), and filter specifications. Rather than quote a number that might not apply to your car, we encourage you to call us for a quick, accurate quote — Beavercreek: 937-426-2886 | Centerville: 937-433-0140. There are never hidden fees or surprise add-ons.
What payment options do you accept?
We accept cash, personal checks, and all major credit cards. For larger repairs — transmission work, engine replacement, major brake jobs — ask our service advisors about financing options. We want to make sure cost is never a barrier to keeping your vehicle safe on Dayton's roads.
Do you provide estimates before starting work?
Every time, without exception. Our digital vehicle inspection process means you receive a detailed, itemized report showing what needs attention, what can wait, and what we recommend. Your approval is required before any repair begins. You are always in control of what gets done and what it costs.
About Murphy's Autocare
How long has Murphy's been in business?
Dave Murphy began working at the Beavercreek location in 1974, and the shop has been family-owned since 1994 — over 30 years of serving Dayton-area drivers. That kind of longevity in the auto repair business isn't an accident; it's built on consistent, honest work and a reputation that spreads by word of mouth. Read more on our About Us page.
What is the Auto Talk Show?
The Auto Talk Show is WHIO's longest-running automotive program — airing Saturdays at Noon on AM 1290 / FM 95.7 with Dave, Jan, and Brian Murphy. Listeners call in with car questions, and the Murphy family answers them live, the same way they've been helping Dayton drivers for decades. You can also catch past episodes on The Auto Talk Show page.
Do you serve military and Wright-Patterson AFB personnel?
Absolutely — and proudly. Murphy's Autocare is located 10 minutes from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and we have been the go-to shop for military families at Wright-Patt for years. We understand PCS move timelines, deployment schedules, and the need for a trustworthy shop you can hand your keys to before you ship out. If you're stationed at Wright-Patt, you're in good hands here.
What certifications do your technicians hold?
Our team holds ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification, with senior technicians carrying the ASE Master Certified designation — the highest credential available in the automotive repair industry. To earn Master Certification, a technician must pass exams across all eight ASE categories. When you bring your vehicle to Murphy's, you're trusting it to some of the most qualified mechanics in the Dayton area.
Still have questions? We're easy to reach. Call us, contact us online, or stop by either location during business hours — we're happy to help.
