New In the Shop Episode featuring this 2009 VW GTI:

Check out our newest Episode of In the Shop, where our Certified Technician, Chris, is seen walnut blasting this 2009 VW GTI to clean the intake and exhaust valves that have heavy carbon deposits; the vehicle came to Murphy’s Autocare not running.

Vehicle Info: Tier One fuel in this GDI Gasoline Direct Injected and Turbocharged engine. GDI sprays fuel directly into the combustion chamber bypassing the valves. Previous engines sprayed the fuel on the valve which kept them clean. The carbon deposits caused by this new technology cause engine miss-fire, poor performance and decreased fuel economy.
If not addressed when engine performance warnings are present, severe engine damage will result.
